Thomas Rhett’s Baby Advice

Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren have quickly become a family, adding an adopted daughter in May, and a newborn in August.  Thomas finds himself giving baby advice to his friends, such as FGL’s Tyler Hubbard and his wife Hayley.  They’re are having a baby girl in December, and Thomas told Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton the conversation among them has changed:

“We actually had dinner with them a couple weeks ago, and they were just asking us a bunch of questions, like ‘How many diapers do you go through a day?’ It’s just so funny to see my friends that all we’ve ever done is goof off.  Now the conversation is strictly about kids. I feel like an old man. Like, I’m the old guy of my friends now because my friends come to me for advice about kids.  I’m like, ‘Dude, I don’t know. Ask Lauren! I’ve just had ’em for five months!’ So it’s funny how the conversation changes when kids get into the picture. It’s also funny with my friends who don’t have kids. Like, you can’t get on my level right now. There’s a lot of things you won’t understand if I vent to you about it.  So it’s ust so funny to see my buddies havin’ kids.”

So how is that experience with a 2 year old and a 2 month old? “When I was in college, for some reason I always wanted to have twins.  And although we don’t have twins, we got them within a few months of each other, so we got a double dose immediately.  To see Willa grow, and Ada’s starting to smile, being a dad is the coolest thing I’ve ever done in my wife.”

You must be filled with anticipation to see the interaction these two will have. What’s it now? “Willa’s old enough to put words together. Any time she sees Ada, she loves giving her a pacifier. She wants to hold her, it’s really cool to watch Willa be a big sister. Me & Lauren have been asking each other if our kids are just this smart? I’m telling you, Willa is brilliant.  She’s like a parrot, she soaks everything in, it’s cool to watch her thrive, and I could not ask for a bigger blessing in our life than Willa and Ada.”

So has Willa started calling you Daddy yet? “Oh yeah, daddy is her favorite word in her vocabulary. When my songs come on the radio, she knows it’s me.  She goes, “Daddy! Daddy!” She knows my voice and she knowns my songs, which is pretty heart-melting when she’s in the car seat saying it.”
