Chris Young recently kicked off his Losing Sleep World Tour. As he co-hosted Country Countdown USA, Lon Helton asked him about the tour: “It’s one of the biggest undertakings I’ve ever been part of. The biggest tour I’ve ever done. It’s going to be a huge show, and I can’t wait for people to see it. The show open is completely different from anything I’ve ever done. It’s cool. There’s more lights and more staging that I’ve ever done before. I’ve been working on the set list since October.” The first few weekends of the tour have already sold out.
What are the differences for you as a headliner? “One is control. You’re in charge of everything. It can be stressful, because you want to take care of everyone else on the tour. That’s something you want everyone else to feel welcome. But I’m also in charge, so it’s a lot of fun.”
Talk about the backstage area. That’s also shaped by the headliner: “My end of tour gift from Jason, I was commenting on how much I loved his entertainment center, that folds up in a road case, it’s in his Vibe Room, and he had one built for me. So thank you Jason! But also trying to create that vibe and take care of everybody. Everybody being in a good mood makes the whole day run well.”
How will you do the duet with Cassadee Pope? “She makes a video screen appearance for that song. I can do it without her, but it’s just not the same. So once I had the capability to do it, that immediately started happening.”
