Kenny Chesney celebrated a milestone birthday a few months ago when he turned 50. Kenny’s debut song was released 25 years ago, so he’s had a very long career. Kenny told Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton that he’s still in pretty good shape:
“I feel really wonderful on stage this year, and it’s because I worked hard to get my body & brain in shape to get up there this year, and it feels incredible. But it’s a TOUCH harder than it was when I started. Just a touch. So I have to work a little harder, and what used to take me two months take me three months to get ready. But that’s all that’s changed.
(Lon) I’ve known you for almost 25 years, and you’ve never been out of shape. (Kenny) “Oh I don’t know, when the tour was over, and I’d live on my boat, there were some chunky moments in my life. But it was all about living. I work so hard to get in those show jeans. When the tour was over, I just wanted to live, so there was a time in my life when I just ate what I wanted and drank what I wanted. But there was always this light coming towards me, like a train, and it was the next tour. So as long as I can get back into the show jeans, I’m good.”
There was a 50th birthday party for Kenny, according to Keith Urban, who told Lon: “I was at his birthday in March, the big 5-0. That was the last time I saw David Lee Murphy as well, he was there. What I love about Kenny is he’s always had this small, tight family around him on the road. Super-loyal, and that’s a real testament to him as a person.”
