This week, Brett Young & Charles Kelley co-hosted the Countdown while Lon was away. The two became friends during last year’s Lady Antebellum tour. It turns out the guys were busy writing songs during the tour, and now, one of those collaborations is about to become Brett’s next single:
Charles asked, “Can we tell people I’m actually part of this next single?” Brett responded, “Part of it? You wrote it with me!” Charles said, “I got to weasel my way into these co-writes, and the first song we wrote together I find out will be your next single: ‘Here Tonight.’ I love this song. My wife loves this song. If you didn’t record it, we were going to do it with Lady Antebellum. I think this song continues your conversation with the fans. I just know this will be a big hit for you.”
Brett said, “I remember the day we wrote it, and I think you had the original idea. I’m very clear about what I want to say, and songs I want to be a part of it. I knew I could say something I’d be happy to say. We wrote it pretty fast. Hopefully we’ll be celebrating.” Charles added, “I was thinking, if it’s a big old hit, it might be another watch celebration. I may have to get you guys some watches. I like my watches.”
The song is called “Here Tonight,” and it will also be a part of Brett Young’s second album, which is expected to be released later this year.
