This week Jordan Davis makes his countdown co-hosting debut. He is currently on the road with Old Dominion. He had a #1 last year with “Singles You Up.” Jordan told Lon, “We set the bar pretty high with that one. That was a massive song for us, still one we look forward to playing it every night.”
Jordan spent some of last year on tour with Jake Owen. Jordan said he & Jake had a competition over 90s country music: “One of the coolest things about being out with Jake was that every night, we’d grab our guitars and play 90s country songs for probably an hour. From Shenandoah to John Anderson to BlackHawk. He’s a talented cat.”
After the tour was over, Jake sent Jordan a gift: He sent me a golf cart. I was in it this morning checking the mail. I have a long driveway, it’s up a hill so to be honest with you, I’m just really lazy.”
Jordan is from Shreveport, and next week, he will be the Grand Marshall of his hometown Mardi Gras parade, “This is a full circle thing for me. It’s a huge honor. I grew up 9 houses down from the parade route. It’s gonna be a pinch-me moment. There are two parades, and I’m with the Crew of Centaur. I never expected it, but I’m very honored.”
Jordan’s second wedding anniversary is just a few weeks away. He told Lon he met his wife in New Orleans: “My college roommate was getting married, she had a sorority sister who was getting married, and we were staying in the same hotel. We met in the lobby of the hotel. The next day, we walked into a restaurant, and she & three of her friends are sitting at a table in the restaurant. We went over and talked to them, stayed the rest of the weekend, and that was the start of our relationship.”
The “elephant in the room” when interviewing Jordan is his rather distinctive beard. In fact, a number of Lon’s past co-hosts have mentioned it. Jordan said, “It definitely stands out. I’ve always been a beard guy. I’ve always hated shaving. And if I say so myself, I think I can grow a pretty good beard.”
Jordan also has great stories this week about Chris Janson, Cody Johnson, Chase Rice, Kip Moore, and Old Dominion.
