This week’s co-host is Chris Young. He talks with Lon about his Raised On Country Tour, and the artists on both the summer and fall legs. They talk about Chris’s forthcoming album, and the special guests on it. Plus an update on Chris’s dog Porter.
Chris Young said his fans can look forward to a new album very soon: “The album’s done, it’s turned in, it’s finished, and it’s one of those things that we’ve been able to get out a couple of songs ahead of the release. Those songs, ‘Town Ain’t Big Enough’ and ‘Drowning’ are very different in a lot of different ways, and they give you a snapshot of what the album will sound like.”
The song “Town Ain’t Big Enough” features Lauren Alaina: “She was the first person I thought of, first person I called, we were in the same studio. In fact we put out a video of the two of us recording the song. We had a blast and she is a phenomenal singer.”
Another special guest is Kane Brown: “I wrote a song that I asked him to guest on. It’s a song called ‘Famous Friends,’ and it’s about growing up with your friends in a small town vibe.”
Lon asked Chris about the Golden Tee video game that is part of the Raised On Country tour: “It’s a golf simulator that we take on the road. The first 3 weeks we had it, you had to reserve time. It’s just something fun or different to have on the road.”
Also on the road is Chris’s German shepherd Porter: “He is huge, he is 94 pounds of fluffy fury. I think he’ll gain a few more pounds, but he’s a big dog. In the back of my bus, there’s my bed and his kennel. That’s all there’s room for.”
Brett also has great stories this week about Blake Shelton, Chris Janson, Garth Brooks, Brett Young, Jimmie Allen, and the Eli Young Band.
