Several artists who took part in Crash My Playa ate in the Top 30: Dustin Lynch, Chris Janson, and Thomas Rhett. He told Lon, “Dustin is Mayor of Crash My Playa. He might as well be El Presidente. He’s created this pool party that’s so much fun, it’s almost overshadowing the concerts at night. For years, people would tell me about, so this year I went over there, and it turned into a big old party.”
Luke said he’s been helping Thomas Rhett with his new hobby: Fly fishing: “He’s got the bug, it’s a very expensive bug, it’s very frustrating. I’ve gone to rivers that have no fish in them. So what I’m trying to do is keep TR from having those experiences. I know great guides, and it’s been fun.”
Luke attended the Grand Opening of Blake Shelton’s Ole Red bar in Oklahoma last spring. Luke said, “Blake did two years of Crash My Playa. I kept asking him what I could do to pay him back, and he invited me to open his bar in Oklahoma. I got to spend two days at his ranch in Oklahoma. My kids got to play with Gwen’s kids. It was fun getting to hang with him & Gwen.”
It was just announced that Luke will return to American Idol next spring. He said, “We were comfortable with our chemistry last year. Our goal is to look for the best talent. The kids in last year’s show are selling out shows already. We got together at the end of last year, we have fun with it, so we’re there to get excited about music.”
We also got the update on Luke’s kids: “This summer we all went up to Hershey PA. There’s a theme park there, and we wanted to ride roller coasters. The park folks gave us fast passes so we could ride the roller coasters, and Tate said, ‘I’m so glad my dad’s Luke Bryan!”
Luke also has great stories this week about Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley, Morgan Wallen, Jason Aldean, and Cole Swindell.
