Sam Hunt has written hit songs for Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, and Billy Currington, in addition to four of his own #1s, He’s now writing songs for his second album, and he told Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton that’s found an unusual place to be creative.
“I’m in this new place, and there’s a room downstairs that’s perfect for a studio. But I got in there and couldn’t feel the vibe. So one night I was sitting on a bucket in my bathroom, and it just felt right. So I’ve been writing in that bathroom for the past 6 months. I need to be a little uncomfortable to write. It helps me focus. I can do about two or three hours sitting on the bucket. Then I have to put a pillow on the bucket. I did that for about 5 months. I finally broke down and bought a chair. I’m turning my bathroom into a studio slowly but surely.”
Sam also told Lon that he’s taking most of the fall off from touring so he can write and record his next album. “I have a pile of thoughts and ideas and melodies, potential songs, and I’m waiting to put the puzzle pieces together. I don’t want to rush it, I don’t want to put a deadline on it. I’ll keep rolling until the music is ready to be put out. If it takes 3 years or six months, then I’ll be ready to put it out.”
