Jason Aldean and his wife Brittney are expecting a baby boy in December. They’ve already announced the baby’s name will be Memphis. This week, Jason co-hosted Country Countdown USA where he gave more details about the baby’s name and the naming process.
“We had a notepad we were keeping different names on. Every night when we’d get in bed, we’d discuss names. I’d throw one out and she wouldn’t like it. There were a couple we agreed on, but only one that we felt was it. I’ve always been a big Elvis fan. I watched documentaries on him. It was me who first threw it out. I had all kinds of rock & roll names, like Seger for Bob Seger, and she wasn’t into them. I just wanted him to have a name that wasn’t common. I think it’s unique enough. It won’t be like Michael or John. That’s what we were going for.”
Middle name? “His middle name will be Aldine, because that’s my middle name. I want to carry that name on. It was my grandfather’s name. So it’s kind of a family name. So that’s what we’re going with.”
When is he due? “Around December. The tour is over at the end of October, so I’ll be around when he arrives. I’ll also take the first few months off in 2018, so he can become acclimated, before he goes on the bus and he becomes a road warrior.”
Your first son, so I imagine he’ll dress in a lot of camo? “Not if his mama can help it. If I dress him, he might be.”
That reminds me of Carrie Underwood. She & her husband Mike Fisher have different interests. She loves animals, and he’s a hunter. “Very similar to me situation. My wife despises hunting. She hates the fact that I hunt. So we just had to come to an understanding. It is what it is. I did all that before I met her. I don’t talk about it in front of her. She won’t watch my hunting show on TV. That’s the trade-off. Out of sight, out of mind. As long as she doesn’t know, it’s all good.”
