This week, new dad Jordan Davis co-hosts the countdown, telling Lon about life as a father: “Our baby girl is a pretty good sleeper. She sleeps through the night. The nights are pretty restful. The second she came into the world, there’s a love that is hard to put into words.”
Eloise Larkin Davis was born in November. Jordan says she’s done some traveling in her short life: “She made a show in Atlanta, and it was awesome to look over and see our little girl with her mom, she slept the entire time. She’s definitely going to make a few more shows.” She also did a family vacation in January.
Jordan explained her middle name Larkin: “I thought it was a family name, which it is, but it comes from the county in Ireland that the family came from is Larkin County. But also selfishly I was a huge Barry Larkin fan. So part family name, part baseball.”
So describe the first few months: “They weren’t lying about not getting much sleep. But it puts everything into perspective. For me it was great. Eloise has been this amazing this that has re-centered everything. Everything I do revolves around that little ten pound 23 inch baby. It’s a feeling that’s hard to describe.”
Has she discovered the beard yet? “You see how much shorter it is? She just about pulled it out. It was real long when she was born, then she’d reach up and try to grab it. So I had to trim it down to get it out of arm’s reach. But it’s slowly getting longer again.”
Jordan has discovered that certain songs have new meanings now that he’s a dad. For example, Jake Owen’s current hit Homemade: “On the way home from the hospital, I’m driving home, new kiddo, wife in the back seat, and I thought it would be cool to play that song. I couldn’t get through it. My wife asked me to turn it off. I texted Jake about it, and he poked some fun at me. But hey, that’s what music’s supposed to do. He did it with that one. Good job!”
Jordan is a lifelong fan of LSU, so Lon asked him about the College Football National Championship: “Go Tigers! I was there! It was amazing. It was Eloise’ first game! New Orleans was where me & my wife first met. My mom came in. Got to spend time with college friends. And then cap it off for a national championship for LSU.”
Jordan also has great stories this week about Brad Paisley, Luke Bryan, Lee Brice, Ingrid Andress, Luke Combs, Eric Church, and Old Dominion.
