Lon’s co-host this week is Justin Moore, from his beach house in Florida. “We stayed at our home in Arkansas starting in March, and we haven’t been away from home too much. We decided to come down to the beach a few weeks ago. We thought it would be good to look out of a different window.”
It’s a very different summer from what you’re used to: “Obviously having time with the wife and kids, it’s the positive to this whole situation. But if you ask any of us, it’s been enough of it. My wife & kids are ready for me to head back out on the road.
So what have you been doing during this time? “I’ve been busier being at home than even when I’m touring. I started a podcast and along side of that I co-hosted a sports talk show. That took up a lot of my time. I felt if I just sat around, I was being lazy. None of it has turned into profit yet, but I felt like I had to be doing something. Plus we have four kids. Early on we were the teachers, which did not go well. Then we did projects around the house. But I’ve been really busy.”
Speaking of the kids, give us an update: “My oldest Ella is 10 years old, and she’s super athletic. She got my competitive nature. Kennedy is my 8 year old, she’s more laid back, she doesn’t allow herself to get too worked up. My 6 year old Klein is always happy, never met a stranger. My 3 year old Is a toddler now instead of a baby. He’s loving the beach, and we’re in the middle of potty training with him now.”
Chris Janson was a recent guest on Justin’s podcast, so Lon asked what he learned about Chris: “I didn’t know that he had quit drinking Mountain Dew. He had been drinking a case a day, and I’m not embellishing, so I thought that was interesting. But I know his song Done is a big hit, because I hear it every third song.”
Justin also has great stories this week about Brantley Gilbert, Jimmie Allen, Ashley McBryde, Kip Moore, and the late Charlie Daniels.
