Lon’s co-host this week is Thomas Rhett, who is expecting his 4th child this fall: “It’s insane, our next baby girl is due November 21st. Lauren is 28 weeks pregnant, the other three are really excited, the oldest just started kindergarten, so life is moving at a rapid pace.”
Lon asked how Lauren is feeling: “Not good. Literally with every pregnancy, she’s been sick the entire time. She’s such a champion, I don’t know how she does it. I feel helpless trying to help. After this one, we’re both ready to take a break. We’ll wait at least five years for the next one.”
Thomas has just resumed his Center Point Road tour, canceled last year by Covid-19. “Just feels good to be back out there, good to see Cole Swindell, we’ve always talked about touring together, and then to watch Gabby Barrett, I feel like I’m watching a legend in the making.”
Thomas did a week of shows at Billy Bob’s Texas to prepare for the tour: “That first night out, we just did a whole bunch of stuff to see what works. Luckily it went over well, and each night, it got better and better. This past weekend was our first of three shows in a row, and it kicked my butt, but I can’t wait to get back out this weekend.”
Thomas will be featured on the new album by Lady Antebellum: “We were in Florida with Charles Kelley, and we started writing this song called ‘Friends Don’t Let Friends.’ He also invited Darius, and it’s just a fun song, and I can’t wait for everybody to hear it, it’s gonna be a big old summer anthem.”
Thomas also has great stories this week about Cole Swindell, Gabby Barrett, Dierks Bentley, Old Dominion, and Russell Dickerson.
NEXT WEEK: Thomas Rhett Part 2. Next week, Thomas talks about the impact 9/11 had on him. Plus he has stories about Luke Bryan, Dan & Shay, and Florida Georgia Line.
